I was not aware of this day. A day for women from every side of the globe. The only ones we are leaving out are the alien women from different planets. Since I like to include everyone, this post is also dedicated to those that choose not to reside on this world.
Without women, we would not exist. It's common knowledge that we all start as females in the womb. Some of us that change choose to cut all ties to the inner woman that we all have. I cannot do so, for I am so close to many women in my life, and have been since my conception.
The deceased ladies that I have on my mind today are still with me today. Both of my Grandmothers still guard me to this day, making sure that I am safe. They were polar opposites in life, but in the next plane of existence, they work hand-in-hand to watch over my life. I owe them for the many times that I've cheated that dark angel of death. I will never be able to appropriately thank both of them for how much they've given, not even counting the work they will continue to do for me.
My ex-girlfriend taught me the value of laughter, while still viewing the world as the ultimate-cynic. I could not blame her for the jaded views that she held of this place, as she was struck from it too soon. Leaving behind two young children, she was not ready to let go of the most meaningful treasures that gave her life on this earth. Although she had cut ties with me and married another before she passed, I am eternally grateful for the fortunate times that we shared together.
The next group of women that I'd like to thank are my mothers. Both have sacrificed so much of their livelihoods to make sure that I was clothed, fed, and nurtured. One giving birth to me, another raising me, I had two of the most dedicated ladies to shape who I was to become. Not many people are so fortunate to have as much influence as I have, by having two mothers. They had both worked tirelessly against my rebelliousness to the point of giving parts of their souls over. The price they have paid to ensure my place in this world is a debt I will always have gratitude for.
Women bloggers are the last I wish to dedicate this day to. They are the bastions of the fairer sex. Ones that are so brave and creative, that it fills me with inspiration to read their words. I live through their stories, their rants, and explanations. Without these women, I would not have the courage to type upon these pages. I feel a kinship with these women, to the point of seeing them all as a loving sister, aunt, or cousin. Many a day, I have become a better person through their words. I thank them for that opportunity.
I have not known of this day before, but now that I have it, I shall hold it as a delicate flower. To bloom in any kind of weather. Despite what anyone says, everyone is part woman. And today is their day.

Note: My life has gone through yet another transitional phase. The internet I was using is no longer, and I will not be able to connect and converse as much as I have in the past. Once I take care of what it is I need to, I will be at your blogs to comment, like usual. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, brother. We'll be here when you get back, y'knowwhatImean?
DeleteIndeed we will, big guy. See you on the flip side! :)
DeleteThis was such a great post! You are so compassionate and thoughtful, not to mention a talented writer:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Women's Day to this world and beyond!
Lol that's awesome happy womens day!
ReplyDeleteWhile women have caused a lot of the problems in my life, there isn't much denying that they're also really the ones who've done the most good. We wouldn't even be here without women. They just have some girls ruining it for the rest of them. Same with boys and men. I'm very thankful for my mother, and wouldn't trade her for anyone else.
ReplyDeleteHow very sensitive of you. I'm humbled and honored to be a woman today.
ReplyDeleteNever knew there was such a day either, nice of you to honor it. But I have to ask, don't women think everyday is national women's day?..LOL
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteReally Pat? As a woman, I didn't even think TODAY was woman's day! Hmph! ;)
DeleteI think it is kind of ridiculous that there are specified days for these kinds of things. People should be honored and respected to the utmost daily, not just one day a year. If it was that way, then the world would be a much, much better place.
ReplyDeleteum ok, I prefer tomorrows International Panic Day.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post... I'm not particularly a pro-women sort of person, and Women's Day seemed much like any other day, but your post is simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's always touching to read or hear about gratitude and love. You've expressed yourself so well that the people mentioned come to life in my mind.
Thank you for sharing something so important to you... and something so real.
Thank you that was sweet.
ReplyDeleteWell, I reckon if there IS such a day, then by all means here's to the ladies in our lives, y'knowwhatImean?
ReplyDeleteRaise yer glasses, bitches. It's a celebration.
As a manwhore, I treat every lady I come across as if it's always International Women's Day though, I feel I must point out. Appreciate yer lover, deeply and thoroughly and edibly.
You heard me.
That's an awesome tribute :)
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing post and I thoroughly enjoyed it! You did a great job acknowledging all the women in your life.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I knew it was a day for us ladies sooner! I so could've gotten a fancy meal out of it...Kidding!!!! :P

Nicely said.
ReplyDeleteNo snarky comments from me for a change.
My mother absolutely hates it. I find that awesome, really. Other women like the appreciation so I mention it and be all "congrats for being born a certain way and getting a day for yourself because of it".
ReplyDeleteA really good post from you. Happy Women's day to you too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful post, Shockzy! Be honest, you're beating the girls off with a stick, right?! I certainly have a disgusting crush! *blush*!
ReplyDeleteWe have National Women's Day on the 9th of August, celebrating the national march of women on this day in 1956 to petition against legislation that required African (non-white) persons to carry the "pass", special identification documents which curtailed an African's freedom of movement during the apartheid era. (goddess bless Wiki!) In more recent years the day has been used to bring about an awareness of crimes against women. A great day in my book! Down with oppression!
You're one of my FAVOURITE bloggers, dude! Your stories give me hope and your words really inspires me. I love the way you write and your honesty is so refreshing. Thanks for always being so good to me. Even though I've never met you, I can say that I'm honoured to know you.
I hope you get your Internet sorted soon, we'll miss you! Until then, heaps of love. :) ♥
Thank you for sharing such a touching post.
