RIP MCA and a late Doomcast

In the heyday of Run DMC, The Beastie Boys did a collaboration with them. It revived a song from years before by Aerosmith. That Aerosmith somg was inspired by pimps. Adam Yauch was a pimp. Not a literal pimp, mind you, but one of the most ethereal and esoteric kinds of purveyors that produce such alluring flesh in the aural form.

Without his talents, I would have never realized one of my many rapper monikers. Not a pen name, but a rapper identity. I liked the idea of being a rapper enough to make think of creating my own persona. I didn't' get much further than the name(It's not used still, so I won't say it), but it's much further than I would have gotten without The Beastie Boys.

I was stunned yesterday to hear of his death. I had recorded a podcast and was going to upload it before I saw the news about him. To make a short story shorter, I slept. I've appropriately mourned one of my influences and now you can enjoy this DOOMCAST.

It's definitely one of the more 'weirder' ones, if they're all not as weird. I go through talking about, probably not in this particular order

  • Procrastination
  • Hunter S. Thompson
  • Deadlines
  • Suicide
  • Guest Posts
  • The Bersercules and Rambling Person podcast and why to listen to the whole thing
  • Hate Mail
  • Wierd, I'm not wierd
  • Insects, and why I empathize with them
  • Entomologists, and what they can do to make me like them
Sorry if the sound is too low. Let me know if it is in the comments, and I will do a replacement. I can't tell from these speakers.

 Until next time, "Gitoutmeface!"

  1. yeah, RIP Beastie boys Adam Yauch. Entomologists until I watched CSI-Las Vegas never had any respect for them.
I love all your accents. My favorites are juvenile and ennui, not exactly accent. And words like Buddha, Avatar,Karate words sound way different in their original languages.
Hate mail? You get hate mail? I get hate comments, they do amuse me once in a while, spices up the blog. :)

  2. I may need to watch more Vegas. I think I've only seen a commercial for it once.

Thanks for loving the accents. I do quite a few more. I can imagine what a juvinile accent sounds like, but not an ennui. I'll do some searching on the subject.

I think my thoughts are to generate hate mail somehow. Bad press is still press, right?

  3. I love the title of the DOOOOOOOOMCAAAAASSTTTT Procrastination is indeed awesome to say with a Jamaican accent. Say Jimmy Carr in a Jamaican accent and it comes out as Jamaican. It was also cool how you said "plastic cock". I haven't gotten any hatemail yet, I'm putting it down to people not listening. Who knew that could come in handy? It's also good that no one listened so that not everyone left such long comments. Insects do have it pretty rough :( Also dude weird is good. Be weird. Be proud of weird. If you want to hear what ennui sounds like then just talk to me. I have such a lack of passion that it can kill you with prolonged exposure.

    1. That is "Jimmy Carr" sounds like "Jamaica" if you say it in a Jamaican accent.

      Delete
    2. It does! I said it aloud in front of someone and they thought I had said "Jamaica". Hahaha! Thanks for that uplifting exercise.

There are silver linings to the non-listening of your and Bersercules' two-hour joint podcast, but after seeing some of the comments, I think that more people listened to the whole thing than you think.

I'm really curious to the pronunciation of "ennui". I've come up with a few theories, but I can't be set on any of them.

I am learning to embrace the 'weird', I really am. Like most of my fears, the hatred of my own voice compels me to publish these things I would otherwise keep to myself. I am starting not to hate my voice, and I thank you for helping.

  5. Doomcast is an awesome name for it. The Jamican accent was great, need to be a jamaican bobsled team..haha I feel bad for the bugs when my cat eats them, poor things, not..lol..they don't like it stay outdoors. I wouldn't want to be an entomologist but the money sounds good.

    1. Thanks goes out to Mark for that moniker. Thanks for the compliment on the accent. I don't think I could handle the cold temps that they have to endure, those bobsledmen. Thanks for stopping by, Pat.

  6. It is indeed a testament to how compelling Mark and Bersercules are that so many people listened to the 2 hour podcast in it's entirety.

I hope I said something like KIT would. I didn't change Podcast sites because you liked that visual. Thanks for commenting, Jimmy.

    1. FURTHER COMMENTARY!

Yeah, I don't get ANY hate mail, but that seems to happen to me a lot. x_X I dunno why, doesn't matter what I do, I never get haterade up unless I'm directly verbally attacking someone.

Even then, they're usually too intimidated to send me hate mail.

      I dunno, maybe it's me?

Also, speakin' about artwork...I accidentally archived your mail and I can't find the final images anywhere. Re-send them to me, yah? :D

Honestly I'm just bein' lazy - I'm fairly certain you DID send me the final one for Project: Boyfriend, and I did snag my ad image but still...I might be wrong. :3

    2. I feel the only way to truly ensure some haitmail, (I am now misspelling it for a reason), is by pissing off the groups of people who are most eager for someone to get their goat. That is to say that just say the opposite of what the picket sign says. Confrontation for confrontation's sake is not condoned by me, but I do give a little lee-way for general bull-shittery.

I will send you those images after commenting, before making a new post. Uno momento, por favor.

  15. MCA from the Beastie Boys!?! I had no idea. This was all over twitter, but I was under the impression that people were talking about something, not someone.

I listened to your entire podcast, and I have to say, you have one hell of a sexy voice.

    1. Sometimes having a rapper name as an acronym has it's downsides. Some people thought it was the record company, which had already passed by decades.

Thanks for thinking my voice is sexy. I've never had that kind of compliment before and blushed when I read it.

  22. Speaking of guest posts, was it you who promised me one months ago? I can't remember. I just had to check my blog archive, and yes it was you! lol And here I was thinking I was the king of procrastination! I give the crown to you sir!

It always sucks when an inspiration passes away. I wasn't ever really big on The Beastie Boys but they did have their share of kick ass jams!

I hate the sound of my own voice. I finally worked up the nerve to post a video of myself in which I actually had to speak. Check it when you get a chance! Very awkward! You will love Mrs Workingdan though! Kudos to you for doing podcasts!

Also, you will be able to tell in my current post that I too have learned to embrace hate mail! (not trying to solicit a page view) It's just that hate mail kinda relates to my post.

I have a feeling I will be speaking in strange accents the rest of the day!
